Thomas King Imel was the son of John Imel, b. November 23, 1789, Maryland; d. May 16, 1861, Salt Lick Twp., Perry Co., Ohio and Sarah Skinner, b. April 23, 1788, Somerset Co., Pa., d. Oct. 12, 1847, Salt Lick Twp., Perry Co., Ohio.

Thomas King Imel was married Nov. 21, 1841, Perry Co., Ohio, by Ezekiel Rush, J. P. to Larue Ann Lanning, b. May 14, 1821, Somerset Co., Pa., d. July 24, 1900, Green Twp., Jay Co., Ind., (daughter of Joseph Lanning and Catherine Matilda Skinner); she is buried in the Whicker Cemetery, Green Twp., Jay Co., Indiana. Ten children. Larue Ann came to Perry Co., Ohio with her parents in 1821 when she was four months old. She was a member of the Baptist Church, in Salamonie, Indiana. Thomas and Larue Ann left Perry Co., Ohio in the spring of 1856 and settled in Green Twp., Jay Co., Indiana. The 1870 census of Green Twp. lists him as worth $4,800 in real estate.

After Larue Ann died, Thomas married a second wife, a widow, on August 11, 1902 - Susan Detmore Deitsch - b. March 30, 1850, Darke Co., Ohio (daughter of Henry Detmore and Hannah Arnet). Susan had married her first husband, William Deitsch, on May 11, 1871. Thomas Imel died at Skells Cross Road, Mercer Co., Ohio, Route #49. He and Susan are buried in a cemetery near Skells Cross Road.

Three months after Thomas died, Susan Imel deeded her farm on the New Corydon-Celina Road to her three sons (Fred, William and John Deitsch), with the provision that they care for her until her death. The farm was in Liberty Twp., Mercer Co., Ohio. (Probate Court, Mercer Co., Ohio, Index 9, Book 91, p. 343).
