Ruth was the daughter of Andrew Williams and Lena (Birchfield) Williams. As a child she moved with her family from Arkansas to the Stuart area and had lived there since. She married John Godwin on March 3, 1928 in Stuart. She is survived by a son, J. D. Godwin of Stuart; daughters, Virginia Williams of Stuart, and Naomi Vandeveer of Ada; brother and sister in law, Eldridge and Berline Williams of Wilburton; sisters and brothers in law, Savanna and Jack Gilmore of Stuart, Edith and Jim Owens of Ada, Opal and Harold Pierron, Van Buren, AR, and Agnes and Loren Fuller of Mesa, AZ. She was a great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, W. W. Williams; sisters, Thelma Fields, Ethel Watts and Letha Bigelow; and a grandson, Elson Vandeveer.
