She was born in Ann Arbor and named for her step-grandmother (Carol F Westerman) and aunt (Jean Gregg).
Carol Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Miriam (Westerman) and Rowland McLaughlin.
Carol graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1966. She attended Michigan State University, working as a buyer in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, and New York for Dayton's, Hudson's, and Marshall Field's after graduation.
She is survived by her brother Jim McLaughlin (Carol), Las Vegas, Nevada, sister Mary Ann O'Brien (Tom), Highland, three nieces: Heather Walker (Travis), Parish, Florida. Laura O'Brien, Highland, and Melissa McGinnis (Craig), White Lake, an uncle Ken Westerman (Cherry), Ann Arbor, and three cousins: Tim Gregg, Carmel, New York, Erica Westerman, Springdale, Arkansas, and Michael Westerman (Brittany), Bloomfield Hills.
She was buried next to her parents in Forest Hill Cemetery, Ann Arbor.
Carol loved animals, particularly horses.
