HENRY M. MYERS DIES SUDDENLY
Former Operator of Mail Route
From Here to State College Succumbs at 56

FUNERAL TO BE MONDAY

BEECH CREEK—Henry M. Myers, 56 years old, former operator of mail routes from Beech Creek to Monument and Orviston and from Lock Haven to State College, through Bald Eagle Valley. died Friday, October 29, 1937, at the restaurant at Martin's Grove in Beech Creek-Township which he operated and where he lived alone.
He had been ill for the past week with inflammatory rheumatism but, apparently, had been in his usual state of health about 10 o'clock, when his brother, William M. Myers of Beech Creek, had left him last night.
Within half an hour, however, Mr. Myers was stricken with the fatal attack of illness. For Zena Gunsallaus, telephone operator, received a call from him about 10:30 o'clock, when he asked if she could come to his assistance because he thought he was dying. Unable to leave the exchange, she called the restaurant operated by Blaine Kunes and Willian Kessinger. Lee Derkins and Harry Levi, all of Monument, started to the Myers place. Meanwhile Miss Gunsallus also notified Dr. A. B. Painter of Mill Hall, who started for Martin's Grove.
When the Monument men reached the Myers place they found Mr. Myers gasping for breath and in a dying condition. When Dr. Painter arrived, he had died.
Mr. Myers was born in Beech Creek, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Myers. Hc had resided in State College many years, where he operated a garage and ran mail and passenger buses from Bellefonte and State College to Tyrone. Before returning to Beech Creek, he had held the contract for carrying mail from Lock Haven to State College, and since July 1 had had the star mail route from Beech Creek to Monument and Orviston.
He was survived by his wife and four sons, Charles, Marion, Fred, and Robert, all of State College, and four brothers and one sister, Frank P. Myers, Philipsburg, Clarence I. and William, Beech Creek; and Claude A., in Texas, and Mrs Mary Kryder, Lock Haven.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Blanchard with the Reverend David Neilson officiating.
Burial was made at the Disciple Cemetery, Blanchard.
He was a member of the P. O. S. of A. lodge of Beech Creek and of the Disciple Church of State College.
The body remained at the Lauer Mortuary until tune for the funeral.
