Charles August Baker, of Chaffee, died Saturday April 12, 1986 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was 69. He was born August 22, 1916 at Sank, in Bollinger County, the son of Samuel P. and Janie (Eaker) Baker.
On September 21, 1934 he married the former Joy Shell, she survives.
He moved to Chaffee in 1944.
He was a retired Frisco Railroad employee.
Mr. Baker was a charter member and deacon of the General Baptist Church at Chaffee.
Also surviving are three sons, Nolan Baker of St. Peters, MO; Norman Baker of Franklin, NC; and Nelson Baker of Hazelwood, MO; three daughters, Mrs. Cletus (Evoleen) Francis of St. Charles, MO; Mrs. Lloyd (Imogene) Waldroop of Franklin, MO; Mrs. Wayne (Dortha) White of Chaffee, MO; two brothers, Fred Baker of Sturdivant, MO; John Baker of Zalma, MO; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Eight brothers and sisters, and two grandsons preceded him in death.
Services were Monday at Chaffee Baptist Church. Burial was in Baker Cemetery near Lutesville.
