She was the daughter of Johannes Andreas (Andrew) Eichling (Eachel in Beavery County) and wife Mary Ann. Hannah was born in Hamilton Township, Northhampton County Pennsylvania and christened in the Hamilton Union Church on 12 May 1799. She moved with her family about 1810 to Beaver County where her father purchased the farm known as Locust Grove. Hannah's mother died in 1846 and her father in 1860. They are buried in the Veasey Cemetery. Hannah and husband William Hice had the following children: Mary Ann, Catherine,
Henry, Eliza, Sarah, Hannah, and William Eachel Hice born in 1842.
