The body of Pvt. Robert E. Adams, of Greenwood, who was killed in the European theater of operations, during World War II, is at the home of his mother, Mrs. Ivy Adams, 704 North Ninth Street, Bellwood, where friends are being received.
The body arrived in Altoona yesterday. Military services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Greenwood United Brethren church. The Rev. C.W. Winey will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pvt. Adams was killed in action in Normandy, July 11, 1944, after having participated in the invasion. He entered the service in October 1942, and went overseas in March 1944. He was born in Greenwood, Feb 6, 1917, the son of George H. and Ivy (Brannan) Adams. He attended Greenwood Evangelical United Brethren Sunday school and church. Prior to entering service he was employed in the Second Street steel shops of the Altoona works.
Surviving are his mother, six brothers and three sisters, Frank, Russell, and James of Juniata; Edward, of Greenwood; Sherrill, Wilmer and Lucretia, all of Bellwood; and Mrs. Albert Kott and Sylvia of Greenwood.
