David Alexander Burris, 71, of Ashland, died at a local hospital last night following a lingering illness. Mr. Burris was born at Raleigh, N.C. on March 15, 1871. He had lived in the Ashland community for 20 years. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Rettia Burris; three daughters, Miss Alma Burris, Miss Jean Burris, and Miss Emma Burris; three sons, David Jr., John and Nathan Burris, all of Ashland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Pryor cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Home.
