He was born in Stuart, Oklahoma, to Tom and Minnie (Little) Black. He attended school in Stuart and enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 during World War II. He served in the European Theatre and after his discharge he returned to Stuart and married Mary Gallahar on July 6, 1949, in Ada. They moved to California for 32 years, where he had a trucking business and then became involved in the real estate business and continued to drive trucks. They moved back to Stuart in 1981, where he began a ranching business which continued until retirement. He was a member of the Stuart Church of Christ. He was a resident of Stuart and passed away at the McAlester hospital at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Minnie Black and four sisters, Nora Perdue, Bertha Davis, Lula May Black and Doris Martin.
