Zion Lutheran Church Latimer Kansas Friday, January 18, 1974 2 PM
Mr. Lawrence Atkinson was born to Charles Wesley Atkinson and Anna Louise Atkinson (nee Owens) on November 8, 1890 in Morris County Kansas. In His mercy our gracious God called him from his life on January 13, 1974. He died at Morris County Hospital, Council Grove, Kansas. Mr. Atkinson was a lifelong area resident living in White City at the time of his death. Mr. Atkinson was baptized at an early age in the name of the Triune God by Pastor Kurt Burton of the Latimer Baptist Church. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith as an adult in 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church of Latimer. At the time of his death he was a communicant member of Zion Lutheran Church of Latimer and a recipient of the Means of Grace, God's Word and Sacraments. He is now safe with his Savior and a member of the Church Triumphant. On September 21, 1927 he was united in marriage with Rosa Samuels of Carnegie, Oklahoma. He survived by his wife Rose of the home; 10 children —Mayme Dahn of Pratt, Cleo Schwartz of Gorham, Thomas Scritchfield of Topeka, Ethel Vick of Decatur, Illinois, Charles Atkinson of McPherson, Cecil Atkinson of White City, Carl Atkinson of White City, Calvin Atkinson of Junction City, Clarence Atkinson of White City, and Clifford Atkinson Wichita; 23 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grand child; five brothers and sisters – – Wilbur Atkinson of White City, Everett Atkinson of White city, Mrs. Ernie (Vera) Renfro of Donaldson Illinois and Mrs. Ted (Sadie) Henderson of Wichita. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera; a son, Harry, and two grandsons; four sisters – – Mrs. William (Mabel) Parker, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Blume and Abby and Anna at a young age and his parents. We thank and praise God for the riches of His grace and for all the love and mercy that he has given to Mr. Atkinson.
