Matthew O. Isaacson, 66, of Lloyd Avenue in Bemus Point, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in his home.
He was born October 22, 1954 in Jamestown, a son of the late Oke M. and Lois Shepardson Isaacson.
A graduate of Maple Grove High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in Education from SUNY Brockport.
Mr. Isaacson was a beloved 6th grade elementary school teacher in Bemus Point for 33 years, retiring in 2010. Throughout the years, he was also a waiter and Maître D' at the Hare 'n Hounds Inn, Guppy's Restaurant, and the See-Zurh House.
Matt was active in local theater, both acting and directing, and was an avid gardener possessing a true green thumb. His annual plantings of multi-colored zinnias were a welcome event each summer, marveled by his neighbors. Matt also loved travelling, both to Europe, Greece, and Ireland as well as throughout the United States. He was a longtime volunteer at the Bemus Point Library in addition to being an ambulance driver for the Bemus Point Fire Department.
Surviving is his brother, Jeffrey W. Isaacson of Norwalk, CT; and cousins, Stephanie Stowell Kolb of Ohio, and Susanna Stowell Rumberger of Colorado.
