Papa Frisch…The grandpa. The myth. The legend. Rob loved Jesus, his family, his work, his native Philadelphia tasty cakes, amoroso rolls, philly cheese steaks, UN-sweet tea, coffee, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Eagles, volumes and volumes of good books, and Pink Floyd... not necessarily in that order. He was a master grill chef (and his grandchildren were very proud to announce that as often as they saw fit!) And his ribs and wings will be talked about for years to come. But his greatest joy in life were his children and grandchildren. He was the neighborhood dad that you'd find most every afternoon playing ball in the street with any kid who wanted to join in, or the crazy dad kicking the giant ball high into the sky. He coached his sons little league, ran the scoreboard at their high school football games, (and was a dedicated booster club member,) and secured an annual membership to Wild Adventures for his grandchildren for about 10 years running. His desk at work was covered in their photos, and if you asked him about anyone of them, you were in for a documentary. And speaking of documentaries, his grandchildren are firm in their belief that for their entire lives, when "Papa Frisch" ranted at some inanimate object, or when he displayed his frustration when the young lady at the drive-thru couldn't quite hear his entire order, (and he had to repeat it several times)....that it was for their sheer entertainment!
Rob was born in Philadelphia, Pa and was the beloved son of the late William "Bill" Frisch and the late Barbara (nee Staiber) Frisch. He served in the USAF for 5 years in Europe before moving to Warner Robins, Ga. where his wife had been stationed in 1988. They made Centerville their home and he attended Mercer University where he earned his BS in Electrical Engineering and his MS in Software Engineering.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Linda; children, Lauren Lonergan (Joe), USAF Major Robert Z. Frisch (Hannah), and Nathan W. Frisch; Grandchildren, Noah Cox, Avery Lonergan, Tanner Lonergan, Abel W. Frisch, Levi W. Frisch and Vera Catherine Frisch. Siblings, William "Bill" Frisch, Jr. (Patty), Susan Long (George), Carol McGrath (Charlie), Nancy Martin (Kieran), Andy Frisch (Jeanine), beloved cousin Mary McMaster, and dear friend/brother Michael Zimmermann. And a host of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, dear friends and coworkers.
Rob was a USAF Veteran having served at Torrejon Air Base Spain. He was a software engineer for 10 years at Ikon Capital (now Ricoh), and was currently a civilian employee at Robins AFB as a senior software supervisor. He was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church, Kathleen, Ga.
Rob's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of his extended family and friends who joined in supporting him during this journey after he was diagnosed on June 11, 2021 with Stage 4 papillary renal cell carcinoma (that had matisized into both lungs, liver and pancreas.) Until we meet again, he is deeply missed.
