Cowley CO. Pioneer Dead

Stroke of Paralysis Last Friday Ends Fatally Today.

Atlanta, Kan., Feb. 20. - Mr. R.L. Ward, One of Cowley county's pioneers, died this morning from a stroke of paralysis which he suffered last Friday. He came to Cowley county forty years ago and has resided on his present homestead ever since. He leaves a wife and eight children all of whom were with him at the time of his death, except one daughter, who is in Oklahoma.

Funeral of R.W. Ward

The funeral of R.W. Ward was held at Mt. Vernon church this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial was in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Mr. Ward died at his home near Atlanta yesterday morning, at the age of seventy-two. He was a pioneer citizen and highly respected.
