Paul R. Martin, age 78 a resident of Portland passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at IU Health Ball Hospital in Muncie. He was a 1961 graduate of Madison High School. He retired in 2004 from Maintenance after 26 years at Jay County Hospital and also worked for Portland True Value. He attended Asbury United Methodist Church where he served the Community Thanksgiving Dinner for over 26 years. He was a veteran of the National Guard for 10 years.

Paul was very active in our community as a board member for Jay County Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Morning Optimist Club and was co-chairman of the Jay County Fair Queen Pageant for 25 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking. He taught CPR at Jay County Hospital for over 26 years.

Paul Martin was born October 31, 1942 in Portland, the son of Paul and Eva (Hathaway) Martin. He married Helen Shaver on May 1, 1971.

His wife- Helen Martin, Portland

2 Sons- Douglas Martin, Portland and Nathan Martin (wife-Brenda), Portland

1 Brother- David Martin (wife-Linda), Portland

3 Sisters- Cheryl Myers, Mary Brotherton (husband-Wayne), and Eva Lou Enyart, all of Portland.

5 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by 2 sons- Dallas and Darren Martin
