Gertrude Barkemeyer, 90 of Ben Arnold, died Friday, March 04, 2005 in a Cameron nursing facility. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. James Wheeless officiating. Burial will follow in the Ben Arnold Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Barkemeyer, a homemaker, was born January 24, 1915 in the Clarkson community of Milam County to Gus and Martha (Sitz) Pimpler. She married Raymond Barkemeyer October 12, 1933 and he preceded her in death September 12, 2002. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Ben Arnold where she was a member of the Women's Guild. Two brothers, Raymond Pimpler and Ervin Pimpler also preceded her in death. Survivors include: Son David Barkemeyer and wife Margia of Cameron Brother Edmund Pimpler of Cameorn Sister Lillie Boecker of Bryan 2 grand daughters Robin Goddard and Kristi Haag 4 great grandchildren Brandon and Ashley Goddard, Blake and Cole Haag Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ in Ben Arnold or the Cameron I.S.D. Scholarship Foundation.
