Samuel Walter McCandless Jr., known as"Walt", was born on June 10, 1936, in Greeley, Colorado, his father, Samuel Walter McCandless Sr., was 31 and his mother, Margaret Amo Leamon McCandless, was 28. He married Marcia Leigh Roberts and they had six children together, daughters Shelly, Shawna, Stacy, and sons Sam, Shannon, and Quinn. He then married Wilhelmina "Billie" Johnson and they had two children together, Christopher and Carine. He died on March 15, 2019, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 82. Walt was pre-deceased by his parents, his son Chris in 1992, his brother Larry in 2011, and his sister Patricia in 2018.
