Mr. Dale Robert Eckroat, age 78, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, and his wife, Camellia Ann Holsomback Eckroat, age 75, of Rome, GA, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021.

Dale was born in Chico, CA on August 15, 1943, son of the late Carl Eckroat and the late Fern A. Fleming Wagner. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Eckroat. Ann was born in Rome, GA on September 7, 1946, daughter of the late Merley Burgess Holsomback and the late Clara Shamblin Holsomback. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack Wilton Holsomback and Wilburn Franklin Holsomback. Dale and Ann were married on June 24, 1972, at First Baptist Church of Lindale.

Ann was a graduate of Pepperell High School in Lindale, GA and had been employed with Valley View Nursing Home and at First Baptist Church of Lindale. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Para-pro at Pepperell High School. Dale was a graduate of Chico High School and Chico State University in Chico, CA. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He began his career in education in our area at Pepperell Middle School and retired from teaching at Pepperell High School, teaching Industrial Arts and Technical Education. Dale was also employed at the Lindale Mill for many years while teaching. They were members of Second Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include 2 sons, Peter Eckroat (Yeri), Rome, and Derrick Eckroat (Lindsay), Summerville; 4 grandchildren, Joseph and Jackson Eckroat, both of Summerville, and Jansen and Clara Eckroat, both of Rome; Dale's sisters, Donna Pratt, Redding, CA, and Dee March, Lincoln, CA; Dale's brothers, Darrel Eckroat, Chico, CA, and Peter Eckroat, Yakima, WA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Brett Clements will officiate with their son, Derrick Eckroat, delivering the eulogy. The American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard will present full military honors. Private interment will follow later at the Eckroat Estate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7pm.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday at 10:30am and include: Chris Brown, Danny Shedd, Leslie Duke, Jim Frank, Taylor Moore, and David Little.
