ARLINGTON - Succumbing to a prolonged, incurable disease Mrs. Laney died peacefully
at home the morning of Sunday, October 10th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Laney was born February 20th, 1946 near Merigold, Mississippi to William H. Neely
and Dorothy Jennings Neely.

Born and reared the eldest child of Mississippi sharecroppers, Martha was more mother than sibling to her sister and four brothers and from an early age was the primary caregiver to their disadvantaged mother. Despite a deprived childhood Mrs. Laney attained high school and college level education by sheer force of will and by strength of character alone rose to lead Texas' largest assisted living facility for thirteen years before retiring in 2011.

Martha's deep Christian conviction drew her to the forsaken. She abhorred human hunger and was particularly sympathetic to the plight of the mentally challenged.
Mrs. Laney was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter; Rhanda Bennett and
three brothers: Wallace, Michael and Thomas Goss.

Mrs. Laney is survived by her husband of 30 years, Douglas Laney; her daughter, Rhonda Bennett; devoted sons, Gerrold Bennett and wife, Diane, William Huffman and wife, Kellie, Ritchard Huffman and fiance, Sharon Reeves. Her grandchildren, Kimberly, Karla, Kandace, Kody, Brandon, Trevor, Kamdyn, Nolan, Lawson, Brody and greatgrandchildren, Baker, Elliott, Wallace and Joy. Her sister, Linda Ralston; brother, L.B. Goss and her husband's children, Dent Laney and Aylisa Bucko.

The family wishes to convey heartfelt gratitude to cousin, Sarah Peden who courageously cared for Martha throughout her final illness.

"Now I lay me down to sleep and pray The Lord my soul to keep. Should I die before I
wake I pray The Lord my soul to take."

Pallbearers : Kody Huffman, Brandon Huffman, Trevor Huffman, Kamdyn Lewis, Nolan
Huffman-Tunell, Lawson Huffman-Tunell, Brody Huffman-Tunell and Nathan Reeves.
