Abigail 'Abby' Bell Strayer of St. Mary's, Ohio, just 61 years old went to be with Jesus at 2:24 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends when she completed this life's journey and transitioned into peace in Heaven.

Abby was born on January 24, 1960 to Charles and Mary (Hawkins) Strayer who preceded her in death along with siblings: Matthew Strayer, John Strayer and Hannah (Strayer) Jurkowski.

Abby married Robin J. Melton on August 29, 2014 who also preceded her in death.

Abby is survived by her son – Aaron T. (Hannah) Binkley, foster son – Ethan (Shayler) Dearsman and children – Vayda and Beckett; siblings – Daniel (Wendi) Strayer, Caleb Strayer, Joseph (Stephanie) Strayer, Sarah (Richard) Clark, Margaret Strayer, Susan Strayer; a brother-in-law – Mark (Katrina) Kinser and sister-in-law D. Diane (James) Wiseman.

Abby married Janice L. Dysert who has loved her, supported and cared for her through this last life battle. Jan also survives.

Abby graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Education degree followed by her attending Tiffin University where she received her Master in Business Administration degree. She spent her life enjoying family, friends, and travel. She liked long walks, crocheting, listening to music, completing complicated puzzles, kayaking, learning to play pickleball, singing and playing her dulcimer, costume parties, and festivals. She touched many many lives that were placed in her life journey with her quiet easy spirit and strong faith in God. Her wife Jan, son Aaron (Hannah) Binkley were the light of her life.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2021 at the funeral home.
