Our beautiful Anorah Charlene Schostag was sadly taken from us on September 17, 2021. She will be sorely missed by her son, Sterling Schostag, her mother and stepdad, Jane Hafer and Dwight Law, her brother, Ryan Schostag, her in-laws, Bill and Pam Piccard, her aunt and uncle, Kara and Tim Markle, her aunt, Dede Schostag, and her many relatives and friends that loved her so very much. She was proceeded in death by her dad, Ulrich Schostag, and her grandparents, Jack and Charlene Hafer and James and Grace Schostag, and TJ Piccard.
Anorah was a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and a Certified Thermographic Technician (CTT). She received her undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from Shepherd University and completed her doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. Anorah's CTT was through the International Academy of Medical Thermography and Imaging Partners International in Pittsburg, PA. She was also trained in cranial-sacral therapy and Swedish/Esalen massage from Heartwood Institute in Garberville, CA. Anorah held a current licensure in Naturopathic medicine from the State of California and was seeking to establish a strong state association in WV in the hopes of spreading licensure of and access to naturopathic medicine to our larger state community. There is currently no licensing in WV, therefore Anorah conducted her business as a Natural Health Consultant.
Anorah was passionate about life, human nature, and the environments in which we live. In her exploration of the wonders of this planet, she had been to 16 countries on 5 continents. Her first overseas travel was as a student ambassador to Russia at age 12 for Dwight D. Eisenhower's People-to-People Program. This journey was for world peace and was the catalyst for her desire to understand human nature and learn about all cultures of the world. She took part in large group travels for world peace and meditations to such places as Mt. Sinai in Egypt, Croatia, and Zimbabwe, Africa. Medical volunteering through Natural Doctors International to Nicaragua was among her travels, which taught her a lot about the devastating lack of appropriate healthcare in many third-world countries. Similarly, she learned through working in homeless shelters in Oregon, that many people in the United States also suffer from inaccessibility to quality healthcare. She also worked closely with traditional physicians in CA, OR, and Martinsburg, WV in integrated healthcare.
Anorah was raised in WV and Rhode Island. As a young child, she was taught about the delicate connection people have with nature and the world and to respect the balance of life. Gardening, hiking, foraging herbs in the wild, beachcombing, swimming, body surfing, modern dance, ballet, cooking, and spending time with her loving son and family were among her favorite hobbies.

Anorah's memory will be honored at the Festival for Anorah at the 4-H Campgrounds in New Martinsville, WV on October 16th, from noon until sunset. Her family welcomes friends, clients and associates to attend to celebrate her life. Memorial contributions will benefit her 3 year old son, Sterling. Send donations to the Anorah Schostag Memorial Fund, 216 Paducah Dr., New Martinsville, WV 26155.
