John J. Ragan, born in Ridgeway, Mo., February 4, 1919, to John W. and Hazel Ragan, died at his home in Independence, Mo., on January 22, 2008. John was a WWII veteran and a member of the 42nd Rainbow Division. He was employed until his retirement as an accountant in the Kansas City area. John was an artist, an avid reader and loved a good pipe; his family will remember him as a man of wisdom and few words. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Ragan, and his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Ann Ragan. John is survived by his two daughters: Ann Lozano of Kansas City, and Rita Giseburt of Richmond, Mo., eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. John will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his friends at Pleasant Heights and The Home Town Buffet. Services will be at Mt. Washington Forever Mausoleum Chapel, 614 S. Brookside Ave., in Independence, on Wednesday, January 30, 2008; visitation will be at 2:30 p.m. followed by memorial service at 3:30 p.m. Forever Cremation Society of Kansas City
