Betty Jean Miller, daughter of the late William Lewis and Opal Carpenter, was born September 14, 1944 in Texas County, Missouri and departed this life September 14, 2012 at her residence in Norwood, Missouri after a long battle with cancer. She was 68 years of age.
Betty grew up in Texas County and attended school in Cabool. She married Harold Strong on September 12, 1962. Three children were born to this union. She and Harold ran a restaurant, a Dairy Queen, and a meat processing plant together. He passed away in 1986. Betty married Robert "Bob" Miller on May 23, 1989 in Norwood, Missouri. They enjoyed fishing together and spent many hours gardening.
She also enjoyed cooking and canning. She loved to cook for her family and was always trying to send food home with them. Later in life, she pursued a career in Nursing and became a care-giver.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold; and one granddaughter: Casey Jo Strong.
She is survived by her husband of their home, Robert Miller; three daughters: Ginger Hunter and her husband, Dallas, of Willow Springs, Missouri, Cheryl Beavers and her husband, Carr, of Willard, Missouri, and Teresa Crisp and her husband, Wesley, of Norwood, Missouri; two step-sons: Robert Miller III and his wife, Linda, and Stephen Miller and his wife, Lynda, all of Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Tressa Ratterree, Weston Crisp, Becky Ross, Jennifer Nelson, Carr-Lee Beavers, Samantha Beavers, Brandon Hunter, Keshia Polm, and Rachelle Andrus; twelve great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her.
