Anchorage resident Ted Cadman , 78, died of cancer Feb. 20, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Al Aska Shrine Temple, 1930 E. Northern Lights Blvd., with past Grand Master Hank Dunbar officiating. Pallbearers will include Donny Bell, Kenneth Bystedt, Derrick Bell, Dane Bell, Mathew Bystedt and James Wagster. Burial will be at Angelus Memorial Park in the spring.

Mr. Cadman was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Dayton, Wash. He attended Dayton High School and served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Guam. In 1955, he moved to Alaska, where he began working for Rogers and Babler Construction Co. until 1975, when he began working for Empire Asphalt Paving. He worked there until 1982. He also worked for Earth Resources from 1982 until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Cadman was a member of Al Aska Shrine Temple, Glacier Lodge No. 10, where he was recognized as Shriner of the Year 2006. He also held memberships with F and AM, Seward Lodge No. 6; F and AM, Polar Court No. 182 R.O.J., Elks Lodge, and many more. He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed participating in all activities of the Al Aska Shrine Temple and Portland Shriners Hospitals for Children. He also enjoyed going to the family cabin, established in 1958. His family said: " Ted was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle (and) a friend who could be counted on. He was loyal and honest. Ed was 'Mr. Fix-it' for all the family and worked on many community projects. He left a legacy of love and will be greatly missed by all who knew him."

Survivors include his wife, Belva J. Cadman ; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Donny Bell, Pamela and Kenneth Bystedt; son, Ted M. Cadman , all of Anchorage; brothers, Walvin Cadman of Gotha, Fla., David Cadman of Walla Walla, Wash.; sister, Helen Lynn of Eugene, Ore.; granddaughters and their spouses, Jodi and James Wagster of Snohomish, Wash., and Kim and Doug Fifer of Anchorage; grandsons and their spouses, Derrick and Tricia Bell, Dane and Jacque Bell, and Justin Mitchell, all of Anchorage and Mathew and Beth Bystedt of Monroe, Wash.; great-granddaughters, Emily Wagster of Snohomish, Brianna Fifer, Daynene Bell, Alyssa Bell, Brittny Bell and Jordan Fifer, all of Anchorage; great-grandsons, Jack Wagster of Snohomish, Logan Bell, Devyn Fifer, Brandon Fifer and Cody Bell, all of Anchorage, and Hunter Bystedt of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Allene Cadman , and sisters, Elsie Spurling and Virginia Recio. Memorial donations may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children-Portland, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239-3009. Arrangements were with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
