Ralph Edward Arbogast, 80, of Staunton, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Blue Grass on April 30, 1941, a son of the late Abel Carl and Matie Marie (Waggoner) Arbogast. On November 7, 1969 he married Phyllis Ann Waybright.

As a boy, Ralph was raised in and remained a member with the Blue Grass United Methodist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Additionally, he was a former member of the Blue Grass Ruritan Club.

Ralph was an accomplished mechanic and worked with various construction companies, both in Highland County as well as Staunton prior to his reluctant retirement brought about to his decline in health. Known for his strong work ethic and selfless nature, he was known to help anyone in need, be it at their home, on their vehicles or farms. He enjoyed tinkering with things, taking on projects, and loved to play cards - especially Rook. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be fondly remembered within his community for his quick wit and sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy "Scott" Arbogast on January 17, 2021.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis; daughter, Kate (Arbogast) Semmig of Broadway; son, Greg Allen Arbogast of Florida; daughter-in-law, Pamala M. Arbogast; grandchildren, Karley Arbogast of Staunton, Chase Semmig of Broadway, Greg and Brandon Ferraino of Florida; sisters, Doris Jean Folks and husband, Julian "Bo" of Blue Grass; Gail Rexrode of Staunton and Carolyn Arbogast of Richmond.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Blue Grass Cemetery with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating, masks are suggested.
