Leona P. Abrams, 92
Chester -- Leona P. Abrams, 92, of Louisiana Avenue, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at City Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Georgetown, Pa., May 8, 1908, a daughter of the late Robert Bertman and Pearl Elizabeth Allison Abrams. She was a lifetime resident of Georgetown, Pa., and Chester. She was a self-employed beautician who owned and operated Leona's Beauty Shop in Chester. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Chester Civic Club and a Red Cross Grey Lady Volunteer during World War II at City Hospital. A 1926 graduate of Chester High School, the first graduating class, she attended the Ohio Valley Business College. She is survived by two sisters, Miss Alberta M. Abrams at home and Mrs. Dennis (Shirley) Smith of Cincinnati; two brothers, Robert B. Abrams of Richland, Wash., and John C. Abrams of Chester; and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice M. Abrams, who died in 1993; a brother, Thomas L. Abrams, who died in 1953; and a nephew, Michael Thomas Abrams, who died in 1995. The Rev. Trina Lewis of the church will conduct the services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
