ROY J. DAVIS, 83 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Roy Junior Davis, 83, formerly of Rockford, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Grand Rapids. He served in the Philippines with the U.S. Army during World War II. Receiving a Purple Heart. Afterward he became a tool and die maker for National Lock. Roy and his wife, Novella, attended Pine Grove Free Methodist and Halsted Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his delightful sense of humor, cheerful patience and his unique hobby of raising exotic poultry. Roy is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathie Davis; granddaughters, Christina (Chris) Miller and Rebecca (Josh) Mumme, all of Grand Rapids; sister, Thelma Gullett of Marble Hill, Mo.; and special nephew and niece, David Crites of Greenville, Mo., and Katie Arledge of St. Louis. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Novella; four sisters; and two brothers. His family would like to thank the staff at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center in Rockford for the loving care given to Roy. Service at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, with visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service; the Rev. Paul Bundschuh of Pine Grove Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be private in Willwood Burial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to The Salvation Army.

Uncle Roy was born 28 Jan 1924, at Shook, Wayne Co. MO. Son of Phillip Stockard and Anna Louisa (Lucy) Wilson Davis.
He married Novella Violet Adams, 05 Nov 1946 in Corning, AR.
