GASTON - Dorothy Rook Allen, 86, of 860 Highway 48 north, Gaston, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at her home.
She was born in Halifax County and was the daughter of the late Jasper J. Rook and Jewel Williams Rook. Mrs. Allen graduated from the Roanoke Rapids School of Nursing in 1963 as an LPN. She was a retired practical nurse after more than 30 years of service with Halifax Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Willard W. Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Wayne Parker and her husband, Bob, of Gaston; her son, Earl Trent Allen and his wife, Donna, of Oakridge; two grandsons, Mickey Vincent and his partner, Bobby, of Raleigh and Torey Vincent and his wife, Kim, of Roanoke Rapids; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Hope Vincent, both of Roanoke Rapids; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Will Crandell of Greenville and Paige and Austin Norris, both of Raleigh.
Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, April 20.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
