A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Visitation Catholic Church, 4285 NW Visitation Road in Verboort, with Reverend Scott Vandehey, celebrant. Burial Rites and Interment will follow at the Visitation Cemetery in Verboort.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held in the Harris Center at the church.
MARGARET MARY "MARGE" JANSEN was born October 14, 1916 in Verboort, Oregon, the daughter of John and Dora (Vandervelden) Heesacker. She was raised and received her education in the Verboort community, having graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Verboort High School. She earned a music scholarship to Pacific University and accompanied various vocalists on the piano.
She was united in marriage to Gervase J. "Gerve" Jansen on August 12, 1941 in Roy, Oregon. They were married in Roy because the church in Verboort had burned down. Following their marriage they made their home in the Verboort community. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Gerve, on July 8, 1999, after celebrating over fifty-eight years of marriage.
In 1959, Marge and Gerve began "Gerve Jansen Trucking Company" which they owned and operated for twenty-five years until 1984, when they retired. Marge not only was co-owner of the business, she was the bookkeeper as well.
She was a lifelong member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort and for many years active with the annual Verboort dinner, where she worked in the salad and pie pantry.
Among her interests, Marge enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed vacationing at their trailer at Netarts Bay and going clamming. She was very interested in family history and spent many hours tracing the family roots. Marge had accumulated both written and pictorial information of several generations. She also enjoyed sharing her information with others who shared her interests. Although Marge had many interests, her main focus was her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Dora Heesacker and a brother, Bob Heesacker.
Marge is survived by a daughter, Millie A. Ault of Sacramento, California; two sons, Rick Jansen of Portland, Oregon and John J. Jansen of Verboort, Oregon; a sister, Claire Braukmann of Verboort, Oregon; two grandchildren, Lynn Senner and her husband, David, of Sacramento, California and Jason Wisser of Denver, Colorado; four great-grandchildren, Valerie, Travis, Jacob, and Lily Ann Senner all of Sacramento, California; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, Oregon Affiliate, Inc., 1200 NW Naito Parkway, #220, Portland, Oregon 97209-2831, in her memory.
