DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Matthew Dean Duhon-Gary age 14, at 3:00 pm Friday, August 17, 2012 at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Herb Bennerfield officiating. Interment will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am on Thursday until the time of the service on Friday. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 pm. A native of Lafayette and resident of Delcambre, Matthew passed away at 6:22 pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Women's and Children's Hospital.
Matthew was a wonderful kid with a great personality and a smile that would always light up the room. He was a hard working boy who was always willing to help others. He was so excited about being a Freshman at Delcambre High School and was looking forward to a great year. Matthew loved spending time outdoors with his best friend Dray, whether it was hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers and dirt bikes or spending time at the camp with his Grandpa. The love he had for his family and little sisters was very special and will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph J."Joey" Gary, Jr. and Jennifer "Jenny" Duhon Gary of Delcambre; three sisters, Amber, Andie and Lanie Gary; Maternal Grandparents, Horace Dean and Andrea Duhon Floris of Erath; Paternal Grandparents, Joseph "Jimmie" Gary, Sr. and Mary Elaine Bodin Gary of Coteau; Maternal Great grandmother, Nelvie Duhon of Delcambre; Paternal Great grandmother, Irma Bodin of New Iberia and his aunts, Carmelite Leach and husband Lowell of Abbeville and Mindy Duplantis and husband Kimball of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal great grandparents, Andrus Duhon and Antoine and Mildred Mergist Floris and Paternal Great Grandparents, Howard Bodin, Sr. and Adam and Nolia Gary, Sr.; great aunt, Sharlene Duhon; cousins, Joshua Derouen and Justin Smith and two uncles, Barry Rodrigue and Raymond Comeaux.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Gary, Gerald Gary, Jr., Mark Rodrigue, Trevor Peltier, Steven Rodrigue, Dray Rodrigue and Kimball Duplantis.
