He was born on April 21, 1926 to the late Floyd and Opal (Herring) Casad.
On January 31, 1947, he married Verna Mae Trapp in Lafayette, IN. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2006.
Alvin enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and deer hunting. He served in Germany during World War II and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Eagles, Life Member of American Legion, Life Member of the Purple Heart and Life Member of VFW Post #1154.
Surviving are two children; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Along with his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two siblings, Dale Casad and Betty Bray; son-in-law, Robert Lucas; and grandson, Rod Lucas.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at West Point Cemetery.
