Pablo attended high school at El Rito Normal in El Rito, New Mexico. There, he accomplished being a member of the El Rito Eagles basketball team. In 1959, the Eagles won the New Mexico State Basketball Championship tournament which Pablo was very proud of.
Later, Pablo was drafted into the Armed Forces, United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia where he remained and lived after completing his term. Pablo was a barber and entrepreneur and enjoyed a simple life.
Although Pablo made his home in Georgia, he never forgot his roots from New Mexico including his family, classmates and friends from Española, El Rito and Albuquerque.
Pablo found joy in being comical and making people laugh and he cherished this over riches and wealth.
After the accident in 2019, Pablo was relocated to Albuquerque to be closer to family that was able to assist with his medical condition. Pablo passed away at the Neighborhood Homecare Facility with his brother Floyd by his side.
Pablo was preceded in death by his mother, Donelia Maestas, father, Filiberto Maestas and brother, Alex Maestas.
Pablo is survived by his son, Michael Maestas, brothers, Reginaldo (Maria), Eloy (Lucille), Fidel (Dolores) and Floyd Maestas, as well as nieces and nephews that showed their concern.
A special thank you to all that remember Pablo and will keep fond memories of him.
