Obituary for Julia Ann James
Julia Ann James, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her home.
She was born September 5, 1935 in Cape Girardeau to Frank Joseph and Mary Rose Eeftink Brockmeyer.
She and Donald E. James were married October 15, 1960 in Cape Girardeau.
Julia was a graduate of St. Mary High School.
She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, Campster Homemaker Club and served as a 4-H leader.
She worked at First Federal Savings and Loan for six years until starting a family. For the next 59 years, she devoted her time to raising her six children, spoiling the grandchildren and perfecting her angel food cake.
Survivors include two sons, Tom (Beth) James of Cape Girardeau and David W. (Stacy) James of Jackson; four daughters, Donna J. (Ralph) Essner of Scott City, Mary (Matt) Koenig of Gordonville, Betty A. (Kyle Koerber) Luhr of Waterloo, Illinois and Alice (Kevin) Hope of Oak Ridge; five sisters, Bertha (Paul) Essner of Benton, Frieda Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy (Paul) Summers of Cape Girardeau, Frances (Joe) Willenbring of Jackson and Imelia (Charlie) Seyer of Jackson; brother-in-law, Joseph Schreckenberg of Hillsboro, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Ruth Brockmeyer; two sisters, Sr. Rose Francis Brockmeyer and Theresa Schreckenberg; and brother-in-law, Joe Seyer.
Friends may call 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 27, 2021 at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.
Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
