Barbara Adell Nissley, 86, of Glendive, formerly of Bloomfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility.

Barbara was born on July 2, 1921, in Glendive, the daughter of Ernest T. and Edith (Cole) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Bloomfield, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1940. Barbara attended Simpson Bible College in Seattle. She returned to the family home when her mother became ill so she could help at home. Barbara and Rufus Nissley were united in marriage on Nov. 3, 1941, in Bloomfield. She and her husband farmed together in the Bloomfield area. They semi-retired from farming in the mid-1980s and moved into Grandview Retirement Home in Glendive in 1998.

Barbara enjoyed cooking and was a talented cook - pies and desserts were her specialties. She also enjoyed her birthday club and watching game shows on television. Barbara was blessed with a good sense of humor. She loved the Lord and, in her own quiet way, was a good example to her family and friends. She was a family person who loved her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to her sister reunions and writing and receiving letters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rufus in 2003; and her brother, Paul Johnson.

Survivors include her three sons, Rod Nissley and his wife Janene of Glendive, Doug Nissley and his wife Brenda of Glendive and Scott Nissley and his wife Brenda of Bloomfield; her daughter, Pat Martin and her husband Kermit of Atwater, Calif.; her sisters, Bessie Mullet and her husband Roy of Hesston, Kansas, Ernestine "Teeny" Siegle of Glendive, Geraldine Olsen of Fargo, N.D., Beverly Buck and her husband Ray of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Patty Henrikson and her husband Floyd of Wadena, Minn., Jackie Schimpp and her husband Russ of Staples, Minn., and Maureen O'Shay of Seattle; her brother, Greg Johnson and his wife Amy of New Ulm, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
