Mary Beekman Walton was the daughter of Jacob Walton (1703-1749) and his wife, Mary Beekman (1704-1800). She was the wife of Lewis Morris (1726-1798), a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Remains from the earlier Morris family burial ground near the old manor house at Morrisania were moved to vaults under St. Ann's in 1866. Over 300 burials are said to be interred in the Morris Vault at St. Ann's (Godey's Magazine, Volume 132, page 72).
