Tribune, The (Ames, IA)-Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011-- Eugene (Gene) A. Coffman of McCallsburg, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A private family burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg. Family and friends are invited to McCallsburg Legion Hall in McCallsburg following the service for lunch and fellowship to celebrate Gene's life. Gene was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Madrid, IA to Orma and Nellie (Simpson) Coffman and graduated from Radcliffe High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the South Pacific and was a member of the Radcliff Legion. He was employed for many years prior to retirement as a feed salesman for Heart of Iowa Co-op in McCallsburg. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips to Branson, MO. He was preceded in death by his first wife , Nancy Ellen Loder; two sons, Randy Coffman and Jack Fox, two brothers, Glen "Tark" and (Roma) Coffman and Wayne Coffman and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Boston Coffman, daughter in law, Darla Fox; stepdaughters, Barbara Teckenburg, Carolyn (Larry) Kettler; stepsons, Lynn (Sioux) Boston, Jim (Kathy) Boston; brothers in law, Lawrence (Joan) Banks, Gerald (Irma) Banks, Jerry (Sue) Banks; 13 grandchildren , 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Fred Fredregill Funeral Home, 320 N. Center St. in Zearing is in charge of funeral arrangements.
