He arrived in South Vietnam on July 11, 1967, and was killed in combat from an explosion on October 6, 1967 in Hau Nghia Province, South Vietnam. He was posthumously promoted to Corporal and awarded the Purple Heart. He was 19 years old.
His siblings were Martha Duncan Carroll, Jessie Duncan, Clifford Duncan and Shirley Duncan Paris.
