Robert A. "Bob" Belstra, age 68, of DeMotte, Indiana went to be with his Lord on Monday, September 20, 2021. He was born on December 1, 1952 in Rensselaer, Indiana.
A lifelong resident of Jasper County, Bob was raised in Wheatfield and lived in DeMotte for 46 years. He is a graduate of Kankakee Valley High School, Class of 1971. Bob married Phyllis Ooms in DeMotte on February 7, 1975. He was a truck driver for McDermitt, LLC hauling hay & silage. He also worked part-time for Jackson Funeral Service since 2019.
Bob enjoyed working and gave 110% at everything he did. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed helping organize Coat Drives to collect coats, hats, sweatshirts, etc., to bring to homeless shelters and soup kitchens. At the soup kitchens, he spent time talking personally with the homeless, sharing stories and serving them a meal. Bob also liked watching westerns on TV and playing video games.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Phyllis Belstra; children: Shannon Belstra-Wilkerson and Rob (Brandie) Belstra; grandchildren: Sydney, Emrik, and Kylie Belstra; mother, Joan Belstra; sisters: Edna (Howard) Rynberk, Mary (Jim) Swart; brother, Jim (Renee) Belstra; mother-in-law, Annette Glessner; and in-laws, Bev (Bill) DeVries, Allan (Donna) Ooms; many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Art Belstra, father-in-law, Gerrit (Doc) Ooms, and step father-in-law, Gerald Glessner.
