James R. Macklin, 86, of Medina OH, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a very special pop-pop, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 14th, 2016. Jim has been reunited in death with his lovely bride, Marian, to whom he was married 64 years. He was born on March 7, 1930 in Newton Falls Ohio to the late Kenneth and Ruth (Bailey) Macklin. His family will continue to retell his tall-tales of various adventures and continue to guess which parts were taller than others. The family will also cherish every piece of custom woodwork that Jim has created for them out of his home workshop over the years. Jim was an avid RVer and had traveled most of the continental United States with Marian and his extended Holiday Hobo family. Many family members were privileged enough to join in on some of these explorations and will hold-dear the memories of these escapades forever. Jim was a proud retiree of Terex and continued to identify all models of heavy equipment seen along his highway journeys. Everyone in the family will miss his hugs, his jokes, his love and his wisdom. He was an example in strength throughout his life and his legacy will continue to live on in those he leaves behind. Loving father of Joyce (Jack) Ringstmeier, of Valley City, John (Linda) Macklin of Columbus, Jeff (Kathy) Macklin and James (Amanda) Macklin, both of Mallet Creek, Cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Bill) Schneider, Janice (Brian) Kollar, Jaclyn Ringstmeier, Amy (Kyle) Long, Anthony (Erin) Macklin, Kyle ( Lisa) Macklin, Kelly (Josh) Flagner and Jamison Macklin. Special great grandfather of 7. Dear brother of David, Mary, Cathy and the late Seth, Gene and Carolyn. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian Macklin in April 2014. Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at York Township Cemetery, Mallet Creek. Rev. Bert Ambrose, officiating. Calling hours- Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4:00-7:00PM at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City.

The family wishes to thank the staff of University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, the HMC Hospice of Medina County and Bauer Funeral home for the kindness and concern they relentlessly demonstrated throughout this process. In lieu of flowers- The family suggests memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina County or to the Alzheimer's Association.
