He was a 1955 graduate of Central High School where he played basketball and ran track. Harold continued playing basketball at Evansville College where he was the sixth man on the 1959 national championship team. He retired from Bosse High school in 1995 as a teacher and basketball coach. Harold was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf. He had a special place in his heart for all the kids he coached over the years and they equally adored him. Harold especially loved coaching his children as they grew up. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Harold will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Charmaine (Smith) Malicoat of Evansville, IN; daughter, Sabrina Malicoat (Rodger Thompkins) of Evansville, IN; sons, Dean Malicoat (Janna) and Kevin Malicoat (Mary Jo) all of Evansville, IN; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Rogers, Lucille Brinkley, Alma Peters, and Irene Malicoat; brothers, Leonard Malicoat and Junior Malicoat; and grandson, Sean Malicoat.
A celebration of Harold's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Rd., Evansville, IN 47725, with Pastor Dale Beaver and Pastor Carl Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Christian Fellowship Church and again from 9:00 am until service time on Friday.
