He married Elizabeth Holland 22 August 1875, Coles County, IL. They were the parents of Charles Monroe, Effie May, Martha Belle, Eva, Rebecca Ann, & Thomas Floyd.

DEATH OF NATHAN ADKINS
Life-Long Resident of This Township Answers The Last Summons
Nathan Adkins, 49 years of age, died at his home on the Gene Frisbie place, three miles west of the city, last night of heart and stomach trouble, from which he had been a sufferer for the past year. The funeral was held from the house this afternoon at two o'clock, and the remains were interred in the Adkins Cemetery, south of the city.

The deceased was the son of "Aunt" Sally Finch, and was born in Charleston Township in 1851, and has always resided here.

He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and six children, three of whom have grown to maturity. The deceased was well and favorably known to a majority of our citizens who offer their sympathy to the bereaved wife and family.
