History of the Massey and Nisbet families go back into the early 1800's. Per Land tracts - in 1828, Dr. John L. Miller's 887 acre lease was divided into several tracks held by brothers, Dr. George Leonidas Massey and Capt. Benjamin Sykes Massey and possibly a small part in the hands of third brother, Henry T. Massey.

Dr. G.L. Massey was the Administrator over the estates of William Massey of Lancaster District, as well as, Maj. Thos. C. Massey dec'd late of Lancaster Dist.

On Nov 30, 1843 - Dr. George Leonidas Massey recorded 311 acres located on the east side of the "River Road" with a narrow strip adjoining Twelve Mile Creek bounded by H.T. Massey, James Miller (or Doby), Adam Ivy and William Vaughan.
