Debbie was a 1969 graduate of East Syracuse Minoa High School and a 1972 graduate of Crouse Nursing School. Inherently selfless, she devoted four decades of her life to caring for patients of Crouse Hospital. A good listener, she was known to spend countless hours bedside, acknowledging deepest fears and offering words that empowered even the terminally ill. A devout Catholic, Debbie blended her passion for spiritual and physical fitness by becoming a certified Reiki Master, which allowed her to gift calmness, self-healing abilities and positivity to those who suffered.
Debbie was fiercely devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with loved ones, including (especially) those with paws. Over the years, she and her husband, Doug, opened their home to legions of cats in dire need of being saved. Together and with the help of their family, they enriched the lives of many a wayward feline.
Debbie enjoyed crossword puzzles, a delicious pasta, cheering on the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills; and she always liked a good tv whodunit, undoubtedly knowing "who did it" long before the most seasoned sleuth. In later years, she also enjoyed connecting with friends and family across the country through social media.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Douglas; son Matthew (Angela) Fulton; daughter Emily (Adam) Caldarelli; sisters Cynthia (Steve dec.) Garrison, Melanie (Mario) Bottoni, Sheryl (Tom) Heenan, Rebecca (Kevin) Klee, Michele Crockett; brothers, Carl (Sally) Thelen, Mark Thelen; many nieces and nephews; soon-to-be-born grandson, Joseph Clare "JC" Caldarelli; and 13 kitty cats.
Special thanks to the Nurses Klee for their exceptional care.
