TILTON - Arthur W. Doty 100, died September 8, 2021 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home. He was born July 8, 1921, in New Orleans, LA. Son of a career Navy Chief, Arthur lived in many places growing up including China, the Philippines, various other locations in the south Pacific and numerous locations within the US.

He enlisted in the Army in 1940 where he served in the 21ST Reconnaissance Troop / AMERICAL Division as a Radio Operator and Medic. He served for 43 months on active duty during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged as a tech 4/sergeant. He saw action at Guadalcanal, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, the Fiji Islands as well as other islands in the Pacific during the war, receiving numerous decorations and citations to include the American Defense Service Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater campaign ribbon and Philippine Liberation Ribbon as well as the Bronze Star resulting from numerous reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines.

After his military service and discharge, he returned home on October 28, 1945. He married Catherine Nee of South Boston and Winthrop. They had 8 children and were married 65 years before Catherine's death in 2010. He was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Corrections for 28 years and would retire as a Deputy Warden. Arthur was a fitness enthusiast his entire life.

After retirement, the couple resided in the Lancaster, Jefferson and Henniker, NH townships.

Survivors include four children: Robert G. Doty and his wife Louise of Quincy, MA, Catherine Doty of Whitefield, NH, and Theresa Reynolds and husband Robert of Dalton, NH, and Vincent Doty of Florida, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one great great grandson and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Martha (Traitler) Doty, wife Catherine and four children, Arthur W. Doty, Jr., Richard C. Doty, Stephen P. Doty and Regina M. Corrigan and his sister Martha Doty.
