Mrs. Marie Wolesensky, nee Marie Bruze (sic), was born in the village of Netes, Czechoslovakia, April 2, 1854. Mrs. Wolesensky was just a small girl when she came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Bruza, on July 4, 1876. They landed in Baltimore, where they spent only a few days, and came directly to Crete.
In the year of 1877, she entered the estate of holy matrimony with Joe Wolesensky. This happy union was blessed with three children, Joe, Jr., of Crete; Edward of Washington D.C.; and Matilda,. The greater part of her life she lived on a farm 2 miles southwest of Crete, moving to the home on Linden Ave., in 1910, where she lived until her death. Her husband preceded her in death, November 13, 1916.
She departed this life, after a lingering illness, Wednesday, at 12:00 o'clock, March 18, 1931, at the St. Elizabeth hospital, at Lincoln, having attained the age of 76 years, 11 months and 13 days. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her death, four brothers, Charles of Alhambra, Calif., Joseph of Prague, Okla., Louis of Crete, and Vaclav of Oklahoma. Three sisters, Anna Nohavec of Crete, Katie Safranek of Renconada, New Mexico, and Antonia Keller of Milford, Nebr.
The sorrowing children, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, besides a host of distant relatives and friends, mourn the loss of one whom they loved.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock from the Sokol Hall, in Crete. Rev. K. O. Zavadil of Wilber, officiating. Interment was in the Riverside cemetery.
