Peggy was born March 12, 1940 in Butler, Missouri, daughter of the late Cletis Deardorff and Gladys (Halcomb) Deardorff. She graduated from Butler High School, and later earned her degree as a Beautician. She owned and operated her hair care business, Kurl-n-Swirl for several years, while also managing accounts and bookkeeping for Baker's Towing Service. She was a longtime member of Reinmiller Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening and collecting Victorian Antiques.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Dale H. Baker, whom she married on June 26, 1958 ; grandson, Ryan Baker and granddaughter, Shelby Shumaker; infant sister, Debra Ann Deardorff; and her brother, Jerry Deardorff.
Survivors include three children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
