my 4th cousin 1x removed

DR. JAMES STEPHEN BOST James Stephen Bost, born January 6, 1923 in Greenville, IL, died on September 28, 2012 at his home in Santa Fe, NM. He was the son of Stephen Homer Bost and Gladys Alma (Dixon) Bost. Jim had a life-long passion for theatre. As an educator, he attempted to enrich the lives of his students by giving them the experience of working with some of the great dramatists -- Shakespeare and Chekov on the one hand, Eugene O'Neill and Arthur Miller on the other. Without the inspiration and encouragement he received from distinguished Professor of Theatre Dr. Hubert Heffner, and the unflagging support from his loving wife, Madge, he could not have succeeded in his endeavors. Jim earned his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Illinois, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University. Jim was Professor of Speech and Director of Theatre at the University of Maine for 26 years, Chairman of the Theatre Department and Acting Head of the School of Performing Arts. Before moving to Maine in 1961 he taught at North Texas State University and Ohio State University. His book 'Monarchs of the Mimic World' was published in 1976. A W.W.II veteran, Jim served in the US Army in Europe. Jim and Madge built a home in Chatham, MA, to which they moved upon retirement. They traveled extensively and later relocated to Santa Fe, NM. Jim would certainly say he had a good life. He was blessed with a beautiful and loving wife, four remarkable children, and a long life on a college campus, living and working with bright, talented young adults in the world that he loved: the theatre. He is survived by his children: Stephen Bost of Brewer, ME and his wife, Amanda; John Bost of Fairbanks, AK; Margaret Bost of Santa Fe, NM; and Douglas Bost of Brooklyn, NY and his wife, Carolyn; and grandchildren: Stuart Bost, Rowan Bost and Acadia Bost. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 55 years, Madge Muir Bost; and his sister, Jeanne Elizabeth Wolf. Special thanks go to the wonderful people who gave Jim such good care: Stefany, Gigi, Lew, Marie, Monica, Rita, and Virginia, as well as Ambercare Santa Fe. For those who would like to celebrate Jim and raise a glass to him, there will be a gathering at his home on Sunday, October 7, anytime between 1-4 p.m. Call 670-2575 for more information. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
