Douglas Wavel Adams, age 78 of Crockett, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home. Doug was born September 11, 1943 in Houston County to AR Adams and Fannie Rachel Lumley Adams. He was a graduate of Crockett High School, Class of 1961. Doug received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Business from Sam Houston State University. He taught 8th grade at Channelview for one year and then went to work at Navistar until he retired in 1982. On June 29, 1979, he married Leah Jo Renfro and gained a wife and 3 kids all in one night. In 1982, they moved back to Crockett and opened AA Electric which he ran until his retirement in 2006. Doug was a gentle giant with his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved his family and had a host of wonderful friends that thought the world of him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, AR and Rachel Adams; and son, Carl Wayne Standley.
Funeral services for Doug Adams will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Park.
