Glenn Maunu Kottcamp passed away on Dec. 22, 2013, in Fresno, Calif. He died peacefully with family at his side.

Glenn was born on Nov. 28, 1946, in Dayton, Ky., to Dempsey and Jeanne Kottcamp. The family moved to Fresno, Calif., when Glenn was five.
He was a born biologist and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting growing up in the Central Valley. He attended California State University, Fresno, receiving both his B.A. and M.A. in zoology/biology focused on fisheries. He was an accomplished fly fisherman.
Glenn began his career as a park ranger with the National Park Service working in Yosemite National Park in 1970. He worked as a law enforcement officer in the valley, Chinquapin/Badger Pass and Tuolumne Meadows. Glenn made many lifelong friends in the park service.
Having become interested in the law as a ranger, Glenn returned to Fresno to attend San Joaquin College of Law passing the California Bar in 1980. He practiced law in Fresno and Nevada Counties. He was a defense attorney but did pro bono work in environmental cases, including saving Dinkey Creek for which he was honored by the Sierra Club.
Glenn loved sports. He helped coach many baseball and soccer teams in Nevada City when his kids were players and was the pitching coach for Nevada Union High School for several years. Glenn lived in Nevada City with his family from 1988 to 2008.
Glenn loved spending time with his kids. He was an animal lover, a birder, a photographer, an artist, and a gifted and generous cook. He loved his family and many friends.
He loved many special places in the mountains, including the small streams and tarns of Yosemite and the big rivers of the Sierra and Montana, especially the Kings, the Gallatin and the Madison.
Glenn is survived by his son, Jeff Kottcamp; daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Chris Weld; sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Tim Sitton; nephew Gary Sitton; and nephew and niece-in-law Greg and Dee Sitton.
