The Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown NY, 04/10/1936: "Mrs. L. Adelle Ainslie, aged eighty two years, one of the oldest residents of this place, fell peacefully asleep early Saturday afternoon, April 4th. Her illness of about a year from infirmities of age had confined her to her bed since February 22nd, during which time she had been dutifully cared for by her only son, Adrian Hawkins, whose ministrations alone had been at his mother's request. Adelle Crandall was the daughter of Dr. Hiram S. and Frances (Sisson) Crandell, and was born in Leonardsville, June 14, 1853, where she spent her childhood and attended school. Later she attended the Advance School of Utica for a time. In 1872 she was united in marriage to Silas K. Hawkins of Burlington Flats, where she spent nearly all of her married life. Mr. Hawkins, a veteran of the Civil War, passed away November 20, 1889. In 1898 she was married to John P. Ainslie, who survives. One brother, Dr. Charles S. Crandall, 17 Prospect street, Utica, also survives. Mrs. Ainslie was a devoted and faithful member of the Baptist church of this place, and was for a number of years a member of its choir. She was as long as health permitted, one of the community's best-read women. She maintained her membership in the Community club. Funeral services were held from the home, Tuesday at 2 o'clock. Her pastor, the Rev. O. C. Newlon, officiated. Interment was at Burlington Flats."
