Ralph C. Gmelich, 73, of 205-14th St., died October 31, 1991 at Monte Cassino Healthcare Center in Toluca.

He was born November 17, 1917 in Ancona, a son of Robert and Emma (Ramme) Gmelich. He married Louise Roy on October 26, 1946 in Streator. She survives.

Also surviving are a son: David R. Gmelich of St. Louis, Missouri; and a sister: Neva Christian of Wickenburg, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by brothers: Earl, Milo and Christ Gmelich; a sister: Edna Rhodes; and two brothers in infancy.

An Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe, he was employed by Weatherby Construction Company in Ottawa for many years, retiring in 1982. A resident of Streator and Ancona all of his life, he was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Two or One Group, and Men in Mission of the church; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
